Everton boss targeting second EURO 2016 winner as Wijnaldum hopes fade

Everton are keen on Braga’s wing sensation Rafa Silva, according to reports from The Sun.

The Toffees are currently in the midst of one of their most exciting summers in recent memory, with the arrival of Ronald Koeman as manager and the investment of Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri reasons for optimism.

However, the Merseyside club have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far – veteran goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is their only addition of note to date – but there have been links with players.

Portuguese stopper Rui Patricio is believed to be a target, and now reports claim that his fellow EURO 2016 winner, Silva, is also wanted.

The winger, who notched eight goals for Braga in Primeira Liga action last term, was a part of his nation’s successful tournament in France, albeit he managed just one minute of game time.

Yet, the 23-year-old remains highly-rated – Southampton and Leicester are also interested – and is valued at around £8m.

Everton’s potential move for Silva could be a reaction to their ailing pursuit of Georginio Wijnaldum, who is believed to be nearing a move to Liverpool.
