Everton have made their first signing of the summer, and it is one that has sparked plenty of debate.

On Tuesday evening, the Merseyside outfit announced on their official website that the winger has signed a five-year contract after finalising a move from Watford.

According to BBC Sport, the fee agreed is £50m, with the Toffees offering £35m up front and the rest will be paid in add-ons.

The figure has stunned many football fans, including Everton supporters, but Richarlison has the quality to inject some much-needed energy in the final third.

Manager Marco Silva is already familiar with the Brazilian having worked with him at Watford, where the winger scored five goals and created four assists in 38 Premier League appearances.

The Portuguese coach was responsible for bringing the 21-year-old to Vicarage Road, and now he will help him transform into one of Everton's key players.

After the news was announced, much of the focus was on the staggering fee for a player who cost just over £11m when he joined Watford from Fluminense last year.

Everton fans posted their thoughts on Reddit.
