According to online bookmakers BetVictor, Everton have emerged as the 4/1 favourites to sign out-of-favour Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has struggled for game time since Jose Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford and he has played just 47 minutes of football – across two Carabao Cup appearances – this term, while he only featured in the 18-man squad in the Premier League for the first time this season in the 4-1 win against Newcastle United on Saturday.

However, the England international failed to come on and he looks to be behind the likes of Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian in the pecking order in his favoured position.

With the 2018 World Cup less than seven months away Shaw will know that he needs to be playing regularly and at a decent level to have any chance of making Gareth Southgate's squad for Russia, and a move away in the New Year could be his best chance of achieving that.

According to online bookmakers BetVictor, Everton are the 4/1 favourites to bag Shaw in January, with Premier League rivals Swansea City at 5/1 and Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Chelsea all at 6/1.

It would certainly be no surprise if the Merseyside outfit were looking for a new left-back considering Leighton Baines celebrates his 33rd birthday next month and is struggling to get up and down the pitch as he so effectively did earlier in his career, and Shaw would prove to be a decent addition once he proved his fitness.
