Everton eye Chelsea ace as Lukaku replacement

Everton manager Roberto Martinez wants Chelsea’s Demba Ba to replace Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The young Belgian – currently on loan from the Blues – looks set to return to his parent club before being sold in the coming months on the back of an impressive stint on Merseyside which has seen him net 14 Premier League goals.

Although the Toffees want to keep the burly youngster, they are aware that matching his wage demands and £20m price tag may be impossible for them after missing out on Champions League football.

As a result an alternative is needed, and fellow Chelsea man Ba is seen as the ideal option.

Despite being an infrequent starter at Stamford Bridge, the ex-Newcastle and West Ham ace is valued at around £10m.

This has not deterred Martinez who sees the 28-year-old as a top quality option, and the sort of player who could spearhead his team’s attack in the Europa League next term.

Ba is understood to have been told that he can leave west London this summer, and he may well be tempted by staying in England despite interest from teams in Turkey.
