Everton eye Scottish wonderkid

John Souttar (Dundee)Everton are planning a January move for Dundee’s teenage sensation John Souttar, according to reports from The Mirror.

The 17-year-old centre-back has been earning rave reviews for his recent SPL displays, alerting a number of English sides.

Sunderland and QPR are thought to be seriously interested in the youngster, but Toffees chief Roberto Martinez is confident that he can beat his rivals to Souttar’s signature.

The Spaniard sent scouts to watch the defender in action over the weekend ahead of a potential £600,000 swoop.

Martinez has signed players from north of the border on numerous occasions during his managerial career, and is known to have an eye for a promising player.

He sees Souttar as a future star, which means that an early bid could keep him away from the clutches of any bigger sides.

Dundee are keen to keep their starlet, but may be willing to do a deal if he is allowed to stay at the club for the remainder of the season.

Despite his age, Souttar has already made 14 appearances for the Terrors and is an U-19 Scottish international.
