According to fichajes.net, Everton are considering a move for Girona defender Juanpe in this summer's transfer window.

What's the story?

Everton are expected to be in the market for at least one new centre-back this summer when considering the struggles of Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka last term.

Michael Keane also found it difficult to impress following a big-money move from Burnley, and the Merseyside outfit are in need of reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.

According to fichajes.net, new Everton boss Marco Silva is extremely interested in signing Juanpe, who has an £8.8m release clause in his current contract.

The 27-year-old is contracted to Girona until the end of the 2021-22 campaign, but Everton seemingly have the chance to activate a relatively small buy-out figure.

Who is Juanpe?

Juanpe is a 6ft 3in central defender who started his professional career with Las Palmas - progressing from Las Palmas B into the first team between 2008 and 2013.

The Spaniard represented Racing Santander during the 2013-14 season ahead of a move to Granada, and then spent time out on loan with Racing and Real Valladolid before signing a three-year contract with Girona in 2016.

Juanpe was outstanding during the 2016-17 season as Girona were promoted to La Liga, and the defender scored five times and contributed two assists in 35 La Liga appearances last term.

Everton will surely face competition if it becomes clear that the Spaniard will be leaving Girona this summer, but the Toffees would be able to offer a lucrative contract.

At £8.8m, the deal is a no-brainer for the Merseyside outfit, with Juanpe showing last season that he is more than capable of operating at the highest level.
