Everton fans annoyed by Keane comments

Everton fans are not impressed by Michael Keane, after the young defender said the team are playing with confidence and freedom.

The Toffees travel to Swansea this weekend knowing a win would probably secure them a top ten finish this season.

While top ten is a far cry from Everton’s awful start to the season, fans are not happy with the recent performances, especially the two home matches against Manchester City and Liverpool.

Both City and Liverpool had one eye on the Champions League, but the Toffees managed just one point and one goal combined from the two matches.

If fans were annoyed about the missed opportunity, Michael Keane’s comments have only furthered frustrations, as the 25 year-old  appears to be happy with the side’s direction.

“We are playing with a lot more confidence and freedom,” Keane said. “And with that extra experience in the side we have a lot more voices in the team. A few wins have given us that confidence and hopefully we can kick on now.

“We should have beaten Liverpool, really, and it would have been brilliant if we could have done. It is massive for the fans and players and we gave it our best shot.

“But in the end a clean sheet is not too bad.”

Keane was a crucial part of the clean sheet against Liverpool, as the former Burnley man registered his best performance in a blue shirt with nine clearances, the most of anyone on the pitch, and also added two successful tackles.

Still, fans are not exactly impressed by his comments, and some of the best Twitter reactions can be found below…
