Richarlison has been one of Everton's star men of the season so far, but on Tuesday night some of his biggest supporters criticised him.

The Brazilian, who is valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, arrived at Goodison Park in the summer with pressure on his shoulders as his move from Watford cost around £40m.

However, he soon proved the doubters wrong by scoring three goals in five Premier League matches.

He also found the back of the net twice for Brazil after making is international debut in September.

On Tuesday night, though, the hero turned villain as he failed to help Everton progress in the EFL Cup.

The Merseyside outfit welcomed Premier League opposition Southampton to Goodison Park.

Danny Ings put the Saints ahead before half-time, but Theo Walcott sent the game to penalties after scoring with five minutes of normal time left on the clock.

Despite keeping the game alive, the former Arsenal star missed from the spot, and Richarlison also fluffed his chance.

The Brazilian did a slow run-up before sending the ball high over the crossbar.

It is safe to say that the fans were not impressed.
