Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration at the new injury update on Jean-Philippe Gbamin, after the club announced he has suffered yet another setback.

The Toffees officially reported that the midfielder has undergone surgery on a tendon injury in his right quadriceps muscle, as a result of returning to light training during his rehabilitation process.

The club have stated that the Ivory Coast international will now be out for around three months, having already been sidelined since August when he initially injured himself during training.

The news will have come as a major disappointment to the fans, whilst the setback will add to the many problems manager Marco Silva is facing already. The under-pressure manager was reportedly handed the next three games to try and save his job after the defeat to Burnley, and injuries to the likes of Gbamin are only going to make matters worse with the club already in the drop zone.

The 24-year-old played Everton's opening two games by coming off the bench against Crystal Palace and starting against Watford, where he registered a 7/10 rating for his display in the 1-0 win.

However, it is going to be a long time until we see him back at Goodison Park.

Here's how some Everton fans took the news, with many left in disbelief at the update...
