Everton fans debate over an FA Cup trophy or a Champions League spot

Everton’s hunt for a major trophy is closing in on 25 years, the FA Cup win in 1994/95 being the last time the blue of Merseyside reached the promised land.

Since then, the Toffees have seen just one FA Cup final back in 2009, with their best run most recently coming in the 2015-16 FA Cup campaign, when they lost to Manchester United in the semi-final.

On the other hand, Everton have still never made it to the Champions League group stages, having lost to Villarreal in a qualifying match back in 2005, as they finished fourth the season prior. This attempt was the only time they have played under the lights of the Champions League since it’s rebranding in 1993.

But the lucrative offers that can come in should a club of Everton’s stature reach Europe’s grandest stage are too prestigious to be ignored. It is no secret that the guarantee of Champions League football attracts top players, sponsorship and of course provides added TV and prize-money revenue.

Is Silva out of his depth?

However, winning football’s oldest trophy and adding a piece of silverware to the cabinet cannot be overlooked, and it should remain a priority for a club such as Everton. Here is what some of the Toffees fans had to say on the subject.
