The news that plenty of Everton fans had been waiting for was announced on Wednesday morning – Sam Allardyce has left the club.
The experienced coach was hired by the Merseyside outfit at the end of November in order to save their season from relegation.
After spending in excess of £100m in the summer on new players, then-manager Ronald Koeman stumbled and took the Toffees towards the bottom end of the Premier League table.
Allardyce arrived to steady the ship, and he had a positive start by recording an unbeaten run in his first seven games in all competitions.
However, four straight defeats at the end of December and early January turned the fans against the manager.
The supporters were unhappy with the tactics and performances on the pitch, but Allardyce maintained that he wanted to stay.
It was not to be, though, as Everton made an official announcement via Twitter confirming that they are now on the hunt for a new boss.

Given that there was a real danger of relegation for the Toffees, Allardyce did a commendable job in guiding the club to an eighth-placed finish in the top flight.
Even so, the overwhelming majority of fans have been left delighted by the news of the 63-year-old’s exit.

Finally brought an end to the most embarrassing period in our club's history.
Make sure you get the next appointment right please. None of us ever want to have him or his like associated with this club ever again.
