Everton booked their spot in the third round of the EFL Cup courtesy of a 3-1 win over Rotherham United at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Gylfi Sigurdsson opened the scoring in the first period, before a double from Dominic Calvert-Lewin ensured that the Toffees would be present in round three.
As expected, head coach Marco Silva rung the changes following the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League at the weekend.
And summer arrival Lucas Digne was amongst those to be handed a spot in the XI.
Leighton Baines has started the campaign as Everton’s first-choice left-back, but Digne will certainly fancy his chances of soon winning a spot.
Digne – a summer arrival from Barcelona – was very positive against Rotherham, and actually set up Calvert-Lewin for his first of the match.
It has been a positive start to the season for Everton, and the club’s supporters now want to see more of Digne.

Lucas Digne looking like he could be a fitting heir to Baines. JonJoe Kenny excellent, Zouma & Holgate were sound, Sandro’s best run out for the club, Niasse’s first touches 😣 Zonal marking conceding for a corner = standard. #EFC
