Everton fans are bashing Wayne Rooney on Twitter, after the 32 year-old had his say on his exit from Goodison.

Fans were mostly split on Rooney’s departure this summer. On one hand, he has all the quality and tools to unlock a defence at any moment, and before Christmas last season he was single-handedly carrying the goalscoring load.

However, as the goals dried up the move back into midfield did him no favours, and his lack of energy and pace became more and more costly.

His latest comments may have turned a few of his supporters against him, seemingly feeling he was hard done by at Goodison.

“I wanted to play, went back to Everton and had a year there, then as I've said before, Everton made it clear towards the end of the season that they'd be happy for me to leave," Rooney said.

"For whatever reason, I still don't know. I felt I was doing OK, I was top goal scorer [despite] playing most of the season from midfield.

"But that's football. And that gave me a decision to make, and I made this decision."

While the 32 year-old’s exit was certainly amicable, he clearly feels he hasn’t got the credit he deserves for his performances, something plenty are disagreeing with.

Rooney did pop up with some major goals last season, but his effort was lacklustre to say the least, and fans are bashing his latest comments.
