Whenever businessman Alisher Usmanov makes the news, it probably sparks the attention of some Everton fans.

The 64-year-old has been a shareholder at Arsenal since 2007, but he has a very strong link to Goodison Park.

The Russian is good friends with Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, who co-owns USM Holdings with Usmanov.

That same company has agreed a number of commercial deals with the Merseyside outfit, which proves that there is already an association.

This week, it was confirmed that Usmanov will sell his stake in Arsenal to majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, which leaves him open to pursue other avenues.

The Telegraph reports that Usmanov could now focus on other Premier League clubs, but he has distanced himself away from taking on a role at Everton.

Despite this, fans have been discussing the possibility of the Russian businessman coming on board, and plenty have debated the morality of it.
