After Seamus Coleman suffered an injury on international duty, it quickly became clear that Jonjoe Kenny would stand in for the experienced Everton star.

The 21-year-old right-back, who signed a new long-term deal in December 2017, was installed into Marco Silva's XI for the 3-1 defeat to West Ham United, and the youngster kept his place for Sunday's trip to face Arsenal at the Emirates.

Overall, Everton performed well, particularly in the first half as they had numerous opportunities to find the back of the net.

They were unable to do so, and in the end were beaten 2-0 following goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Kenny played the entire match, but not everyone was convinced by the young full-back's display.

Others, though, were impressed by the ability of the Liverpool-born footballer, who joined Everton's academy in 2006.

Everton currently sit 12th in the Premier League table, six points adrift of the top six after six games.

Silva's men have lost their last two top-flight fixtures, and since the season began have picked up a single victory in the league.
