Everton fans were understandably fuming after their side slumped to an embarrassing 5-2 defeat in the Merseyside derby.

The tone was set inside the first ten minutes when Divock Origi strolled past Jordan Pickford to open the scoring, and it's fair to say the hosts didn't look back from that moment on.

While it's important to credit Liverpool for the calibre of their display, there's no doubt that plenty of Everton players were found wanting on the night.

The supporters turned out in their numbers on social media to destroy a handful of individual displays, and Gylfi Sigurdsson took his fair share of scathing criticism following an anonymous performance from the Iceland international.

Indeed, fans were quick to point out his distinct lack of impression on the game, with one labelling him "invisible" such was the extent of his failure to make any notable impact during proceedings.

But that only represented the tip of the iceberg in the extent of the criticism, as many fans called for him to be offloaded on the back of his torrid display.

Considering he cost the Toffees £45m to bring to the club and the quality of his performances last season, it's easy to sympathise with a band of supporters who have been massively let down by their key players since the beginning of the current campaign.

Here's what the Gylfi-out brigade had to say about his display...
