Everton fans ‘gutted’ to miss out on James Maddison

Norwich City’s James Maddison is set to join Leicester City, leaving Everton fans frustrated that they have missed out on one of their main transer targets.

The midfielder had a fantastic season for the Canaries, scoring 14 goals and making eight assists and was nominated for the Championship’s Young Player of the Year award.

The transfer is believed to be in the region of £22million and Sky Sports have reported that Maddison passed a medical on Monday with the Foxes.

It had been previously reported that Everton wanted to sign Maddison and were preparing a bid of £18million plus add-ons for the player.

Southampton were also very keen on signing the young talent but Maddison wanted to stay near his Coventry home, according to Sky Sports.

Everton fans are understandably frustrated that they have been pipped to one of their targets by a rival Premier League club and many have been voicing their opinions on social media.
