There is one thing that is guaranteed after a defeat – players will issue a rallying cry ahead of the next game.
Everton fans are experiencing this currently following their midweek defeat to Southampton.
Marco Silva’s side were knocked out of the EFL Cup in the fourth round after losing a penalty shootout at Goodison Park.
Theo Walcott sent the match to penalties after cancelling out Danny Ings’s opener in normal time, but the former Arsenal star contributed to Everton’s downfall.
The 29-year-old missed from the spot, as did his teammate Richarlison, which handed the victory to Southampton.
In five games in all competitions, Silva’s side have picked up just one win, which has become a concern for supporters.
Ahead of this weekend’s trip to face Leicester City, defender Michael Keane is finding some confidence by drawing on the team’s recent 3-0 win over Fulham.

Unfortunately for the centre-back, who was signed by former manager Ronald Koeman last year, the fans are not buying into his spiel.
Same old same old words mean nothing. Nobody cares about 7th, 8th. We wanted silverware. They let us down at home last night. Embarrassing.

Sorry lads but I’ve heard this crap for the last 23 years. Doesn’t wash anymore. Not good enough

Heard it all before. Why on god’s earth, field a weakened side. Not as though we’re playing in the champions League.

Usual day after a defeat nonsense, how about you try and remind our pathetic managers and players that we have not won a trophy for 23 years and that EVERY competition is a chance to give us a little bit of pride, shambles of a football club ?

Oh just stop it. No one cares about the league. We needed to win last night and Silva got it badly wrong.
