Marko Arnautovic scored one and set up another as West Ham United recorded a 3-1 win over Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Arnautovic netted 11 times in all competitions for West Ham last season following his arrival from Stoke City.
And the Austria international has all started the new term in impressive form, managing three goals in five Premier League appearances.
Manchester United were believed to be interested in signing the 29-year-old during the summer transfer window, but West Ham kept hold of the attacker.
Arnautovic caused Everton’s back four all sorts of problems at Goodison Park before eventually being forced off in the second period with a knee problem.
The Everton fans were unhappy with their team’s performance, but many have also taken the chance to pay tribute to Arnautovic in a show of respect.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the club’s supporters can be seen below:
We deserved nothing. Yes they scored against the run of play which shocked us. But their confidence grew an were easily the better team. Arnautovic bullied us. Give them credit when it’s due. If you think that performance deserves victory then I’m worried for you.

Shame Arnautovic is 29 because I’d throw £60m at them for him if he plays like that every week

Feel for Mason Holgate – sure he had a woeful game but he was up against Arnautović, the best player on the pitch. Silva should have had the bigger and stronger Zouma on him. Either way, the sooner Mina is fit the better. He best be worth the wait too or #EFC are truly screwed.

I hate to say it but this is West Ham’s day. You can tell they don’t have the overall talent of EFC but every loose ball or errant kick is falling perfect for them. Arnautovic is class and will likely be sold up soon.

I thought West Ham were excellent yesterday, I’ve no idea who their No8 was but that kid can play, far too intelligent and tecnichally good for Everton, Arnautovic and Yarmolenko just pulled us everywhere, fair play to them.

State of Holgate. Arnautovic just too savvy for him.

I don’t think Holgate is a bad defender. I think he is a 21 year old that could probably get away with gambling and getting touch tight before. He should learn that sometimes you have to step off players as good as Arnautovic. He’ll learn. Still young.
