In an interview with evertonfc.com, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that he would like to remain with the Merseyside outfit beyond his current four-and-a-half year deal, saying "I would like to stay more", which should be music to the ears of Toffees fans everywhere.

What was said?

Well, the experienced Italian was speaking about the club's aspirations in line with his own goals, and he told evertonfc.com: "I signed a four-and-a-half-year deal and I would like to finish my contract, to stay here, to do my best.

"And after that, if there is a possibility to continue, I would like to stay more. The ambition and idea is to stay longer."

Amazing news for Everton and its fans

It's a huge boost that Ancelotti is keen to stay until the summer of 2024, let alone what it means if he's still there beyond that.

The 60-year-old has been with the club less than two months but he has already made a significant impact, and proven just how good it is to have a manager of his experience and quality at the helm.

Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players....

Indeed, aside from the dreadful 1-0 defeat against Liverpool's youngsters in the FA Cup last month, the former Napoli chief has led the Merseyside team to five wins and two draws in his eight Premier League matches in charge, with the only defeat coming away at Manchester City – even that was only a narrow 2-1 loss.

The Italian is someone that should, because of his list of honours which includes three Champions League titles and top-flight trophies in England, France, Germany and Italy, on paper be able to attract a higher calibre of player to Goodison Park.

He has also shown already that he can help younger players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin – who has scored eight goals in his previous 11 Premier League outings – and Mason Holgate become key first-team individuals.

Everton are clearly in good hands with Ancelotti right now, and if he is willing to stay beyond his four-and-a-half year contract that can only be a good thing if the Toffees want to secure regular European football and challenge at the right end of the Premier League.
