Having failed to sign a single player for the senior squad during the January transfer window, it could be easily be a big first summer in charge for Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti in terms of both incoming and outgoing deals.

The previous deadline may have only just passed, but that hasn't stopped Toffees fans on the Grand Old Team forum talking about who they'd potentially like to sign from the clubs who are currently in a relegation battle in the Premier League.

There is always a debate as to whether it is a good idea to sign a player featuring for either a relegated or relegation-threatened team from the top flight, and the Merseyside outfit have probably had a few ups and downs when using that strategy already this millennium.

Indeed the likes of Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and Idrissa Gana Gueye were an undoubted success, but there have certainly been a few question marks over the likes of Arouna Kone, Antolin Alcaraz and maybe even Jordan Pickford from a long-term point of view given some of the criticism he has been receiving.

Nevertheless, it seems clear that supporters of Everton have been impressed with what they've seen from Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, who reportedly cost a club-record £40m when he joined the Hornets from Rennes back in August.

The following individuals have named him as a potential target on the Grand Old Team forum thread should Nigel Pearson's men end up in the Championship come what May…

While other fans were keen on the Senegal international, there were a few concerns on how much he could cost given he is Watford's record signing.

One individual said that he "could be an astute signing" as long as the Hornets didn't want crazy money for the 21-year-old.

Given his reported cost and the fact he will still have four years remaining on his contract this summer, Everton would surely have to lay down a big price for him even if Pearson's men are a Championship club.

Others were keen to sign him, but also for the added benefit of it annoying Watford again.

Of course, Everton have taken both Marco Silva and Richarlison off of the Hornets in recent seasons, and they had to pay £4m compensation for the former having been accused of tapping the Portuguese manager up.

The latter also could eventually cost them £50m with add-ons, according to BBC Sport, proving that the Hertfordshire-based outfit won't be easy to negotiate with.
