Everton fans look silly after Calvert-Lewin scores against Bournemouth

Premiership Picks

Lots of Everton fans who had taken to Twitter to fume over Marco Silva’s decision to include Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the starting XI against Bournemouth now look silly, after the forward scored against the Cherries.

The former Hull and Watford boss opted for summer signing Moise Kean up top in the Toffees’ previous Premier League outing against Wolves, and the Italy international instantly rewarded Silva’s faith in him by grabbing an assist inside the first five minutes – Everton went on to win 3-2.

However, after the international break, the Portuguese boss decided to drop the former Juventus forward in favour of Calvert-Lewin, who was yet to register a goal or an assist in four league appearances so far this season before his goal against Eddie Howe’s men.

One fan asked: “Has he not done enough already to lose his starting place?”

Another supporter asked if the Toffees were “trying to score or not” by including the England Under-21 international in the starting XI.

Now of course, Silva’s decision was vindicated after the academy graduate managed to find the back of the net with a fine header.

Let’s take a look at a few more replies from the Everton fans on Twitter who now look rather foolish…
