Everton fans are heaping praise on Davy Klaassen, after their failed signing insisted it was the right choice to come to Goodison.
Of all the summer signings at Everton last season, undoubtedly the most disappointing was Klaassen.
The Dutch playmaker has fantastic ability, and also has that rare knack of arriving in the box to score goals from midfield, a trait that very few midfielders can boast.
The 25 year-old, together with Gylfi Sigurdsson, was supposed to solve Everton’s goalscoring woes by creating tons of chances, but played just seven times in the Premier League in his first season on Merseyside.
Being unable to make the team under two different managers is certainly a worrying sign for a player who cost around £24m just a year ago, but the former Ajax captain is still in high spirits about his future as a Toffee.
“It was the right choice for me to come to Everton – a club full of passion, fitting my style,” the Dutchman said.
“I cannot wait to start the new season at Everton. I feel good at Everton. I feel at home. I want to perform better next season.”
Klaassen has been a major flop thus far, but he’s saying all the right things to get fans on side, and they’re expecting big things from him next season.
You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below, with one fan even tipping him for player of the year…
Don’t know why, can’t explain it but I’ve just got a feeling this guy will start performing on the pitch!

Good enough for me! He’s a good player who just badly struggled to adjust in a poor team lacking confidence through out the season. Maybe Silva can get him back to his best?!

Never wanted a player to do well so much as I do with klaassen, he’ll be used to the 433 formation and the pressing style due to his Ajax days hope he gets his chance
