Everton fans on Twitter have been calling out Tom Davies after his poor performance in the embarrassing 6-2 home defeat at the hands of Tottenham.
Davies was recalled to the side by Marco Silva as Idrissa Gueye missed out through injury for the second week in a row, but the 20-year-old Englishman was unable to get close to the Tottenham midfield and his defence were left open and exposed.
The Toffees took the lead at Goodison Park just after the 20 minute mark when Theo Walcott turned in Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s pull back. However, after Jordan Pickford and Kurt Zouma’s mix-up allowed Heung-min Son to put the ball into an empty net the floodgates opened.
Spurs were 4-1 up before Gylfi Sigurdsson replied, although that turned out to be little more than a consolation as the away side netted two more.
It’s easy to forget just how young Davies is given his stratospheric rise into the first team at such an early age, but the Scouser was bypassed way too often against Tottenham and Everton fans were not happy.
Davies, like any local lad at a big club, was given plenty of leeway by fans who were desperate for him to succeed, but the Twitter reactions down below are not a pretty sight…

Bernard has to start, works so well with Digne. Mina has to start and Gana is crucial to our midfield.Tom Davies needs to go out on loan for a run of games. Hate to say it but Coleman is done and I don’t want to see Walcott starting for a long time. #efc

Not blaming Tom Davies for everything yesterday but let’s put this cause he’s a blue he should play he’s knowere near good enough to play for Efc also Pickford is becoming a serious liability in goal it’s nearly every game he make errors

We need to realise we’re not going to improve if we still have players like Davies in our starting 11. Coleman’s completely lost it which is sad to see, gueye is our most important player and we’re probably the furthest we’ve ever been from the top 6. #EFC

Knew the minute I saw Tom Davies in the starting XI this was going to be a long afternoon for #EFC. Would he even start for most Championship clubs? I doubt it.

Tom Davies should be nowhere near a Premier League midfield. The man screams Blackburn Rovers

I couldn’t care less about where he’s from. If EFC has any genuine ambition then Tom Davies simply cant be anywhere near the first team.
