There is no question that Lucas Digne would have been disappointed to miss out on a spot in the France squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Having struggled for regular football at Barcelona during the 2017-18 season, Digne was only on the standby list for the World Cup in Russia, and was not called upon.

The left-back joined Everton from Barcelona during the summer transfer window, and has been in impressive form for the Toffees this term.

Indeed, his form led to a return to the France squad for their internationals with Netherlands and Uruguay over the last week.

And Digne was handed a starting role at left-back for the clash with Netherlands, which the world champions actually lost 2-0.

There is fierce competition in the full-back areas with France, but Digne will now be looking to cement a spot in his national team's squad.

The Everton fans have been delighted with the 25-year-old's form this season, and have been on social media hailing the full-back's France return.
