The relationship between Ross Barkley and Everton fans turned sour in January when the midfielder opted to leave his boyhood club.

The midfielder decided not to sign a new contract at Goodison Park and instead joined Chelsea in a £15m deal.

Barkley's career suffered a setback last year as a hamstring injury left him on the sidelines for the majority of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 24-year-old is now back to full fitness and he is starting to show glimpses of the quality expected of him.

So far Barkley has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, and in that time has netted one goal and produced two assists.

On Monday night, the midfielder played 75 minutes for England as they upset the odds by overcoming Spain 3-2 in their latest UEFA Nations League encounter.

Barkley impressed in the middle of the park and he sent a delightful ball over the top for Harry Kane, who then set up Raheem Sterling for the Three Lions' third goal.

Plenty of Everton fans have revelled in Barkley's misery over the last 10 or so months, but a handful had nice things to say regarding his England performance.
