Everton fans praise Wayne Rooney after amazing hat-trick

Everton bounced back from humiliating defeats against Atalanta and Southampton to thrash fellow strugglers West Ham United 4-0 at Goodison Park on Wednesday night, and Toffees fans were full of praise for hat-trick hero Wayne Rooney’s performance.

The Merseyside outfit came into the clash completely bereft of confidence and knowing that Sam Allardyce was their new manager, and the experienced players especially knew that they would need to stand up and be counted against the Irons.

Recalled to the starting XI having been an unused substitute against Saints, Rooney did exactly that and despite missing his initial penalty he netted the rebound, before he added another before the break.

The 31-year-old captain saved the best for last though, as he scored from his own half after Joe Hart had rushed out of his area to clear the ball.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on their skipper’s performance via social media, and while one simply labelled it as “outstanding”, another said ‘he has been our best LB and DM this season’.
