Everton fans react as Gylfi Sigurdsson could miss rest of the season with knee injury

According to reports in The Guardian, Everton’s club-record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson could be out for the rest of the season after he suffered a knee injury in the 2-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend, and Toffees fans have been quick to react.

The Merseyside outfit bought the Iceland international, who could also be a doubt for the World Cup in Russia, in a £45m deal from Swansea City during the summer, and while he made a slow start to his Toffees career, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Goodison faithful, he has certainly made more of an impact in recent weeks and months with ive goals in his last 17 matches.

Despite completing the full 90 minutes against the Seagulls on Saturday, The Guardian says that the 28-year-old may have damaged his knee ligaments, which would keep him on the sidelines for a number of weeks.

Everton supporters have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the big update, and while one said it “sums up our season”, another simply said they were “gutted”.
