PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong, rated at £6.3m by Transfermarkt, has hinted that he would like to be reunited with Marcel Brands at Everton following his appointment as director of football at Goodison Park, and Toffees fans have been quick to react.
According to an interview he Dutch media outlet NOS, the 27-year-old said when speaking about his future: “There is certainly interest from other clubs and if there is something beautiful that suits me, I would certainly consider it. Maybe Marcel Brands can get me to Everton!”
The centre-forward, who struggled during a loan spell with Newcastle United previously in 2014, scored 13 goals and provided a further 12 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions for PSV this term as they won the Eredivisie title.
Everton supporters, who hope on Twitter that Brands will bring two other Eredivisie stars to Merseyside with him, took to social media to give their thoughts on the quotes from the striker, and while one said “Jesus Christ no, he’s horrific”, another simply said “no thanks”.
