According to Sky Sports, Everton are interested in signing free agent left-back Patrice Evra, but he is expected to join Premier League rivals West Ham United instead and Toffees fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The former Manchester United full-back was sacked by Marseille earlier this season following an altercation with a supporter, and the 36-year-old is now looking for a new club as he can still play domestically despite being banned from UEFA club competitions until 2018, according to Sky Sports.

The Merseyside outfit have used Cuco Martina at left-back in place of the injured Leighton Baines, and Sam Allardyce and director of football Steve Walsh failed to bring in a more specialised player during the January transfer window despite the Goodison Park faithful believing it should have been one of their priorities.

Everton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the link, and while one said "Evra too old and slow now", another said "Steve Walsh is a waste of space".
