Many Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter after The Liverpool Echo reported a story by Portuguese media outlet A Bola, saying that Yannick Bolasie looks set for a return to Goodison Park this summer with Sporting Lisbon unlikely to take up their option to sign the winger.

The 30-year-old is spending the season on loan with the Portuguese club, but according to A Bola it appears as though he hasn't done enough for the permanent €4.5m (£3.8m) clause to be activated.

That said, the report suggests that they would be interested in signing the former Crystal Palace man on another loan deal, with his contract with the Merseyside outfit set to expire in the summer 2021.

It remains to be seen whether Everton would be happy with that agreement, whether they would prefer to try and sell him for a fee or even whether Carlo Ancelotti would like to take a look at him.

Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players....

The attacker has scored two goals and provided a further five assists in 24 appearances in all competitions for Sporting, while he has also been sent off on two occasions.

Having netted just twice and picked up four assists in 32 outings for the Toffees after costing £25m in 2016, it is no surprise that some fans are unhappy at the prospect of him returning, as you can see when they replied to this Twitter post from The Liverpool Echo's Everton account.

However, not everyone was completely negative on the subject, with two even suggesting that Ancelotti could perhaps be willing to work with him and potentially even try and turn his Everton career around.

The Italian certainly likes his wingers in his preferred 4-4-2 formation, but it remains to be seen whether he is willing to use one who turns 31 years of age in May and has flattered to deceive when he hasn't been injured.

Another suggested he could "be like a new signing", assuming they aren't being sarcastic.

One final fan brought up former director of football Steve Walsh, who is far from popular among many supporters because of some of the poor signings the club made during his tenure - Bolasie, Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaassen are just a few that spring to mind.
