Many Everton fans would have been thrilled during the summer when the club spent over £100m on new signings.
Unfortunately, a large number of the new arrivals failed to take the Toffees forward; in fact, the club were in a relegation battle under former manager Ronald Koeman.
Sam Allardyce is now in charge and he is overseeing his first transfer window since taking the job at the end of November.
The Merseyside outfit are in a much healthier position in the Premier League table given that they are ninth in the standings, seven points above the drop.
With that in mind, fans might be allowing themselves to get excited about the potential new arrivals this month.
The club have already recruited forward Cenk Tosun from Besiktas, and now Allardyce has revealed to reporters that the club are in negotiations with Arsenal over the signing of winger Theo Walcott.
The winger, who has scored more than 100 goals for the Gunners during his 12-year stay, has not started a single league game this season.
Once Allardyce revealed the news, Everton fans gave their reactions on Twitter.

Am I the only Blue who'd actually be quite chuffed to get Walcott? He's quick, scores goals and can play upfront or wide. And he's the perfect age to allow our academy players to come through without undue pressure on them. #Everton #EFC #TheoWalcott #TransferWindow

Walcott isn't a priority, but he's a very good player who has been crying out for regular games. Everton could see the best of him. #EFC

I’m onboard with the potential Walcott signing now. I’ve never really rated him over the years but we really need him. I’d still like to see Lookman given a run of games though #EFC

In the current market,if we sign Walcott for £20m,that’s good business IMO.Hes a proven scorer,English and in his prime.cant understand the scepticism #efc

What a signing Walcott would be if we got him like, scores goals from the wing and can okay through the middle. Only downfall is his injuries #efc

My thoughts on Walcott are is he better than we already have, I would say Yes, only worry is his injury record, if we can keep him fit it a yes from me #efc

I’d take Theo Walcott simply for the resale value he will generate when he grows up and fulfils the potential his tender years show. #EFC.
