Everton have had a dire season so far, with managerial changes and relegation fears.

Over a month ago, the Merseyside outfit parted company with Ronald Koeman and they are on the verge of appointing a new leader.

The Daily Mail reports that former Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has signed an 18-month deal after agreeing the final details of the arrangement, which could see him pocket in excess of £6m.

Allardyce had initially ruled himself out of the running after feeling that the owners did not want him enough, but he has since been convinced to take the role.

On the pitch, life has been dismal for the Toffees as they reside just two points above the relegation zone.

In all competitions, the team have lost five of their seven fixtures under temporary manager David Unsworth.

Everton hoped to give the fans some good news when they tweeted on Wednesday that injured pair James McCarthy and Yannick Bolasie are closing in on comebacks, but the reaction was not all positive.
