Everton fans, rejoice… Martinez looking to replace underperforming star

Everton are considering a January move for unsettled AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez, according to reports from Gazzetta World.

Although the Toffees have been playing well of late, the Merseyside club have claimed just one win in Premier League action since their mid-November 4-0 battering of relegation-bound Aston Villa, leaving them in 11th position.

A major factor in this run of results has been a tendency to concede sloppy goals, with goalkeeper Tim Howard seen as a major factor in this.

The USA international, now 36, has been targeted by large sections of the Goodison Park crowd, who have grown frustrated with his lack of agility and routine errors, and it seems that Roberto Martinez is ready to react with reports claiming that Milan’s Lopez is wanted.

The experienced 34-year-old is understood to have grown unsettled at the San Siro after losing his starting role to impressive teenager Gianluigi Donnarumma, 16, and could consider a move away.

As well as Everton, Bournemouth are also thought to be interested.
