It would be fair to say that Oumar Niasse is a player who splits opinion with the Everton supporters, and that has been the case throughout his time at the club.
The 28-year-old is perhaps not the most technically gifted of footballers, but there is absolutely no doubting his commitment to the cause.
He also ended the 2017-18 campaign with nine goals in 25 appearances, with eight of those strikes coming in just 22 Premier League matches, which is a fine record when taking everything into consideration.
There are plenty of Everton supporters who have welcomed the striker’s comments, but there are also those who feel Niasse will never be quite good enough to lead the line for a team of Everton’s ilk. Either way, it is certainly an interesting debate.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
⚽️ | Oumar Niasse believes a first full pre-season with #EFC can prove the catalyst for a prolific 2018/19.

Really liked his goal against west ham on the last day of the season. Brilliant control in a crowded box
