It is fair to say that there is not much love for Ross Barkley from the Everton fanbase.
The midfielder was once the club’s golden child, taking over from Wayne Rooney, who moved over to Manchester United as a teen.
Barkley came through the ranks at Goodison Park and was tipped to become a club great.
However, the 24-year-old became disillusioned with life on Merseyside last season, the majority of which he spent on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Rather than sign a new contract, Barkley opted to leave Goodison Park for a fresh start at Chelsea.
The midfielder finalised the switch in January, but he played a bit-part role towards the end of Antonio Conte’s regime at Stamford Bridge.

With Maurizio Sarri now at the helm, Barkley has had many more minutes on the pitch, starting six games in all competitions and coming off the bench in a further six.
In total, the midfielder has scored three goals and registered three assists, which has led to a revival in his England career.
On Sunday evening, Barkley played 64 minutes of the Three Lions’ 2-1 victory over Croatia before he was replaced by Dele Alli at Wembley.
The midfielder did not make a big impact on the fixture, which delighted plenty of Everton fans.
Thought Barkley didn’t give the ball away anymore?

The press go on about this “great young England team” yet we start with Delph, Dier and Barkley against a team containing the best midfielder in the world. England will never change having their favourites in the team
