Nikola Vlasic joined Everton from Hajduk Split in 2017, and scored twice in 19 appearances for the Toffees during the 2017-18 campaign.
The 20-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of this season, however, and sent on loan to Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.
Vlasic is playing in the Champions League for CSKA this season, and made a big impression in their Group G opener with Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night.
Indeed, Vlasic set up Fedor Chalov for CSKA’s first of the match, before netting a 95th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot to help his team rescue a point.
There is no question that the Croatian would have been pleased with his performance, and the Everton fans have been on social media discussing the attacker.
Vlasic still belongs to Everton, and might well go on to forge a successful career at Goodison Park, but that is currently open to debate.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the English club’s fans can be seen below:
Vlasic goal & assist for CSKA in Champions Lge; deemed not good enough for #EFC tho 🤔🤔

Every time I watched him after his first game he was awful.
Gave the ball away, wrong decsions and generally lazy.
I honestly believe there are better prospects in the under 23s.

He never once looked up to it for me. A loan out was the right move.

Bring Vlasic home

Unpopular opinion: Vlasic is better than DCL. Assist and a goal (pen) in the champs league tonight. I would have him back at FF tomorrow

Vlasic doing it in the Champions League yet some fans don’t think he’s worth giving a shot 🙄
