Everton fans still struggling to accept controversial Manchester United penalty

Everton had an opportunity to claim three wins on the trot on Sunday for the first time this season, but they failed to meet their objective.

Marco Silva’s side were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United at Old Trafford, which included a controversial penalty.

Idrissa Gueye was adjudged to have brought down Anthony Martial in the box prior to the half-hour mark.

Many fans have argued that it should never have been given and that the United attacker should have been booked for diving instead.

Paul Pogba initially had his penalty saved after a lengthy run-up, but he fired it into the back of the net on the rebound.

Martial added a second for United shortly after the restart and although Gylfi Sigurdsson netted from the penalty spot with 13 minutes left to play, it turned out to be a consolation goal for the Toffees.

On Reddit, some Everton supporters posted their fury at the incident.
