Having taken over captaincy duties from Phil Jagielka this season following the defender's departure this summer, Seamus Coleman is quickly learning that his new role carries greater scrutiny.

The Republic of Ireland international represents the players on and off-the-pitch, and only top-quality performances will suffice.

Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, his displays this season haven't quite been up to scratch.

The right-back has yet to produce a single goal or assist in six appearances this season, whilst his tackling numbers have dropped by a third from last year - 1.5 to 0.5.

In the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday, Coleman had no shots, key passes, tackles or interceptions.

After seeing the Irishman's anonymous display, Everton fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the club's skipper.

Many supporters of the Merseyside club slammed Coleman as a "liability", whilst one fan even suggested the veteran's attempts at trying to play football is "putting years upon years on me".

Some fans even questioned why summer arrival Djibril Sidibe hasn't been given a proper look-in yet, especially after their captain's recent decline.
