Reported Everton transfer target James Maddison shone as the England Under-21 side beat their Ukrainian counterparts 2-1 in their latest European Championship qualifier at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night, and Toffees fans have urged their club to sign the attacking midfielder.

The Mirror reported on Tuesday that the Merseyside outfit are one of four Premier League clubs tracking the highly-rated 21-year-old, who is rated at £25m by Norwich City and plays behind the striker for them, meaning he would likely compete with Gylfi Sigurdsson for a spot in the XI if he did move to Goodison Park.

Maddison produced a delightful around the defender through ball for Toffees striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as he opened the scoring in Sheffield, and it was the latest high in a season in which he has scored 14 goals and provided a further 10 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Canaries.

Everton supporters, who are also hoping Calvert-Lewin brings his form back to Merseyside, took to social media to give their thoughts on his latest Three Lions display, and while one urged the club to "go and break the bank and sign James Maddison", another said "I'd definitely take a punt on him at Everton".
