Everton signed Andre Gomes on loan from Barcelona during the summer.

Injury meant that Gomes missed the early weeks of the 2018-19 campaign, before finally making his debut for the Toffees in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

There will, of course, be tougher tests for Gomes, but the Portugal international was class personified in the middle of the park.

It might not have happened for Gomes at Barcelona, but there is no question that he is a super footballer, and Everton will be hoping to get the best out of him.

It would be fair to say that the Everton fans were impressed with Gomes' debut, and now many have taken to Twitter to call on the club's director of football Marcel Brands to sort out a permanent deal.

Gomes is surplus to requirements at Barcelona, and valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, would not break the bank for Everton.

Gomes will be looking to build on his display against Palace when Everton travel to Manchester United this weekend, and it will be very interesting to see how the midfielder performs, if he is indeed selected.
