Everton could be missing a number of their defensive players as they look to recover from two successive embarrassing defeats when they host fellow Premier League strugglers West Ham United at Goodison Park on Wednesday night, and Toffees fans want fringe midfielder Mo Besic to start at centre-back.

Leighton Baines, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate are all doubtful for the clash against the Hammers with the former two coming off in the 4-1 loss against Southampton at St Mary's on Sunday.

With the likes of Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams also struggling at centre-back and with their confidence seemingly at an all-time low, caretaker boss David Unsworth may think about making some changes in his backline.

Besic has only played 46 minutes of top flight football for the Merseyside outfit this season and hasn't featured since August in the Premier League, but that hasn't put off the Goodison Park faithful.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the Bosnia and Herzegovina international via social media, and while one said he "would rather play Besic CB", another urged Unsworth to "please partner Besic with Jagielka in central defence now".
