Everton’s season went from bad to worse as they suffered a comprehensive 4-1 defeat to a previously goal-shy Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday, and Toffees fans have urged the club to appoint Sam Allardyce as their new manager.
The Merseyside outfit have now been without a permanent manager for five weeks following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, and David Unsworth looks unlikely to be handed the job on a full-time basis with the 4-1 loss on the south coast coming just days after the 5-1 humiliation at home to Atalanta.
The Toffees are in serious danger of being relegated this term as things stand, and in that respect Allardyce would be a good appointment as he has never gone down from the Premier League.
Everton supporters have been having their say on the 63-year-old via social media, and while one simply said “get Sam Allardyce in now”, another has told the club to “pay him whatever he wants”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Josh, #EFC fan, says the club need to appoint Sam Allardyce.
'Everton need to stop with the fantasy & delusion regarding getting certain managers. Allardyce has a proven track record of making an impact in a short space of time. The most important thing is survival now.' pic.twitter.com/CS1bY2uN06

After today's performance. This "let's get someone in to show ambition" needs to be scrapped. If Allardyce comes in, happy days. Keep us up (if you can with this squad). #EFC

Not a popular opinion by any stretch and I hate myself for saying it… Under circumstances Allardyce until end of season wouldn't be a bad thing. #EFC

Get Sam Allardyce in now. Sorry but we can't defend to save our lives. Need to swallow our pride and just survive this season. #EFC

Not arsed what anyone thinks,Everton need an Allardyce or O’Neil to get us out of this mess. We are not in a position to say ‘no’ about anyone. Someone who knows how to get out of this situation is exactly what we need. Its arl arse on Unsworth, clearly doesnt know what to do #efc

Get back on the phone to Allardyce with the begging bowl. We are going down. #EFC

Need to Allardyce on the phone tomorrow and pay him whatever he wants. If we go down, we won't come back.
