Everton are set to go toe-to-toe in the transfer market with Leicester City in the hunt for Borussia Monchengladbach's Thorgan Hazard, according to Foot Mercato.

What's the word?

Marco Silva has helped to steady the ship at Goodison Parl but there is still plenty of work to be done if Everton are to seal a return to European football and the club are starting to identify their targets for January.

According to Foot Mercato, Everton are one of the clubs expressing an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach's 25-year-old star Thorgan Hazard but face stiff competition in the market from Leicester, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, amongst others.

Formerly of Chelsea and the brother of Blues star Eden, Thorgan Hazard has established himself as one of the best attacking players in the Bundesliga and his future is up in the air as he edges towards the final 18 months of his contract.

A good fit?

With four goals and three assists in eight Bundesliga matches this season, it is easy to see why Marco Silva and Everton are interested in the services of Hazard but it is not exactly clear how the 25-year-old would fit into their ranks.

The Toffees have seen Richarlison and Theo Walcott impress in the wide positions of their squad this season, with Ademola Lookman providing solid back-up, while Gylfi Sigurdsson has been the main man in an attacking midfield role.

Signing Hazard would likely mean changes in the set-up but Everton should not let that affect their interest in the player, as he would be a superb long-term replacement for 29-year-old former Arsenal man Walcott and could provide the spark towards a top-six finish.
