Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has emerged as a target for Everton according to The Mirror, with the Merseysiders set to make a free transfer move for him this summer.
The Red Devils are expected to revamp their playing squad this summer in a bid to get themselves back into silverware contention, with a number of players expected to leave Old Trafford as a result.
Carrick, now 34, is out of contract at the end of the current season and his future remains a point of contention.
Everton have a squad full of young talents but perhaps need a few older heads to lead them towards the promised land of the Premier League’s top four.
The Toffees have signed a number of players from United in the past, including Tim Howard, Tom Cleverley and Darron Gibson.
Carrick has poise on the ball and an exemplary range of passing but at his age could well be expendable for United and a shrewd accusation for Everton.
