Everton launch ambitious move to beat Arsenal to mega money ace

Everton have made an ambitious approach for Wolfsburg’s wantaway attacking midfielder Julian Draxler, according to reports from the Independent.

The Germany international, who starred for his country at EURO 2016 earlier this summer, has made headlines over the course of the last 24 hours after a controversial interview with Bild in which he revealed that he’s ready to leave the Volkswagen Arena, despite having only joined his current club last summer.

It’s since been claimed that the player himself is trying to engineer a move to Arsenal, but reports reveal that Everton are ready to offer the 22-year-old a Premier League move.

The Toffees have ambitious plans following investment from Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri, but despite luring Ronald Koeman in as manager, transfer business has been slow, with veteran goalkeeper Maarten Stekeleburg and energetic midfielder Idrissa Gueye the only additions of the window on Merseyside.

It’s understood that initial talks with Wolfsburg have been initiated, but the Bundesliga heavyweights are reluctant to sell, which may leave interested clubs needing to pay his €75m (£63m) release clause.

Although such a fee is seemingly beyond Everton, with Chelsea willing to pay £65m for Romelu Lukaku, there is a chance they could fund a swoop for Draxler.
