According to The Sun, West Ham United want to sign Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin, but Everton should also be in the hunt for the Frenchman.
Andriy Yarmolenko’s lengthy absence is expected to force West Ham into the winter transfer market, and the Hammers are being strongly linked with a move for exciting attacker Saint-Maximin.
It would be a surprise if the London club were given a free run at Saint-Maximin, however, and Everton really should be in the hunt for his signature.
The 21-year-old joined Nice from Monaco in 2017, and has scored seven times and registered 11 assists in his 49 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in all competitions.
This term, Saint-Maximin has managed two goals and two assists in Ligue 1, and there is no question that he has a lot of talent.
A right winger who is also capable of playing through the middle, Everton should certainly make a January move for the attacker.
Saint-Maximin – valued at £18m by Transfermarkt – is a three-time France Under-21 international, and will fancy his chances of earning a senior call-up if he continues to produce strong performances.
A move to the Premier League would surely appeal to the attacker, and Everton are in need of more firepower in the final third of the field.
Richarlison, Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson have all been in good form in recent weeks, but it would be fair to say that the jury is still out on Theo Walcott.
Walcott has managed six goals and five assists in 26 games for the Toffees since a January move from Arsenal, but the 29-year-old, who has just never become the player he should have been, could do with some competition down the right.
