Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal on a free transfer at the end of this season, and Everton must do all they can to sign the Wales international.

What's the word, then?

Ramsey will see his current deal with Arsenal expire in June 2019, and there will be no new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Indeed, negotiations over a new deal have long broken down, and Ramsey will not be an Arsenal player entering the 2019-2020 campaign.

As expected, a number of clubs are closely monitoring developments, and it might well be that the midfielder decides to try his hand abroad.

Plenty of Premier League teams will also be keeping a close eye on what is happening, however, and Everton must do all they can to sign the Welshman.

Indeed, the Toffees have ambitions of becoming a Champions League club, and bringing a player of Ramsey's ilk to Goodison Park would show that they mean serious business.

What would Ramsey bring to Everton?

Ramsey again showed his quality for Arsenal at the weekend, coming off the bench to play a key role in his team's 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.

In all, the 27-year-old has scored 61 times and registered 63 assists in 350 appearances for Arsenal, including 37 goals in 248 appearances in the Premier League.

It does seem incredible that Arsenal are allowing a player of Ramsey's class to leave on a free transfer, but their loss will be another team's gain.

Everton would be prepared to offer Ramsey substantial wages to make the move to Goodison Park, and his signature might well convince the likes of Andre Gomes to stick around for next season.

Everton will face a lot of competition, but should do everything that they possibly can to secure Ramsey's signature.
