According to El Confidencial, Sevilla will look to sell French midfielder Steven N’Zonzi this summer, which is sure to put Everton on high alert.
Everton were strongly linked with a move for N’Zonzi during the January transfer window, but the midfielder ultimately remained at his Spanish club.
The 29-year-old has again been in impressive form for Sevilla this term, but his relationship with the La Liga outfit is believed to be at an all-time low after he was pictured partying in a Madrid nightclub hours after his team’s 5-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.
According to El Confidencial, N’Zonzi is at loggerheads with Sevilla officials, and the Spanish side will now actively look to sell the midfielder in this summer’s transfer window.
N’Zonzi has since apologised for his actions, although it is thought that a decision has already been made on a player that would command a healthy transfer fee at the end of the season.
N’Zonzi knows what the Premier League is all about having represented both Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City in the top flight of English football between 2009 and 2015.
The Frenchman has gone from strength to strength during his time at Sevilla, and was outstanding against Manchester United in both legs of their Champions League round of 16 tie.
N’Zonzi has scored once and provided one assist in 40 appearances for Sevilla this term, and would add a physical presence to the middle of Everton’s midfield.
Calm on the ball and with a brilliant range of passing, N’Zonzi is valued at £29m by transfermarkt.co.uk, and may well command that price in this summer’s transfer window.
Everton need to add quality this summer if they are to close the gap on the top six, and N’Zonzi would be the perfect arrival at Goodison Park.
