Everton plot £5m move for international keeper amid Howard frustations

Everton are lining up a £5m switch for Cardiff City custodian David Marshall, report Wales Online.

Current Toffees Number 1 Tim Howard has come under fire for his perceived dip in form over the past few weeks, with manager Roberto Martinez reportedly exploring other options between the sticks.

Despite only signing a new deal in the Welsh capital recently, the Merseyside outfit are said to be hoping a £5m bid will be enough to prize the Scot away.

Martinez will be hoping to put an end to the rather dismal defensive record of having conceded 28 goals in 19 Premier League games this season.

The 30-year stopper was hugely impressive during the Bluebirds’ single Premier League season and has constantly been linked with a return to the top tier.

He had come close to a summer switch to West Brom, though a move ultimately broke down after two clubs failed to agree a fee.
